SC, I am looking for the functionality to put lines on a chart with a start and stop, color choice, line width, and text reference from an excel spreadsheet using an url link that is set to update X number of mins.. The end result would be lets say a 3 month 30 min chart of the ES (one contract quarter) with lines that stay on the chart for the entire 3 months. so there would be many start and stop lines for each day that would remain on the chart coming from the managed excel spreadsheet. (think like pivot lines for each day that remain for the entire 3 months on the chart) I have reviewed the study Horizontal Lines. which allows you to choose input prices for lets say an ES chart... And I have reviewed the study Horizontal line at time which matches up better then the first one, since it allows a start and stop time. But this one only gives u a drop down to choose preset inputs not like the first one that allows you to have user defined price level inputs. IS there another study that would do what I am looking for offered by SC? Or can the horizontal line at time have the functionality added too have user defined inputs vs drop down and the ability to point it too a url to grab info via managed excel file? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration Doug |

The first thing we want to point out is that there is only a single study that we have that is setup to accept data from an outside URL. See if this may work for your purposes. Refer to the information here: Trading Levels Otherwise, you would need to build a way to get the data from your spreadsheet into Sierra Charts. For what you are wanting, this would probably be easiest to do using the Sierra Chart Spreadsheets. Refer to the information for accessing spreadsheet information through our ACSIL interface here: ACSIL Programming Concepts: Referencing Data from a Sheet within a Spreadsheet Also, since you are wanting the lines to be drawn all the way across the chart, you probably would want to use the Draw Style of Line Extend to Edge. Refer to the information here: Chart Studies: Line Extend To Edge (ACSIL: DRAWSTYLE_LINE_EXTEND_TO_EDGE) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thanks for the insight, I believe that the second option is probably the direction I need to go. But after reviewing the documentation you linked. It appears that the spreadsheet is limited to 60 subgraphs.. IF I understand it correctly. If I had more then 60 lines within the 3 month chart I would have too add a new study and new spreadsheet pointing to that study... IS that correct? If that is the case it might not be the best for me since I am likely to have roughly 100 lines that start and stop at on a specific day per week or more for 3 months. IF the solution is actually limited to 60 is that just a arbitrary # that has been chosen, can it be changed? does this insight suggest another possible solution.. Thanks, Doug |

You are correct, the Spreadsheet only supports 60 subgraphs. That number is not arbitrary, it is a hard limit that we have throughout the system and modifying it would not be easy.
