User's email address changed to my email address by sierra login window

Hello, I discovered a bug which changes another person's email address when they login into sierra with their account name but with my email address written in "Email Address for SC Account" field. We configure sierra and distribute that to our training participants. I deleted my login informations but forget about the mail address and that is when we discovered that all of our participants email address in their account is changed to mine. I think it shouldn't work like that. It is a problem with older and also with new versions. |

Not sure what we can do about this. You just need to make sure to clear your email address and then press the Login button to save that empty value before you distribute the files. What you describe is not something that we can prevent. The email address on the account will be updated to what someone specifies. This is definitely not considered a bug at all. So I can change someone's email address to mine by simply distribute my version of sierra with my email address written in the email field, then get info about their account, change their password and take control over their account, and they can do nothing about it (I just have to be fast with the process). And it's not a bug?

We now see what you are saying and we will see how to resolve this. What we are saying is that there is not a bug in regards to you providing the Accounts4.config file to someone with your email address. If they are not changing that particular field of information, that is what gets used. That is just not a bug. What you are describing is a security issue and someone not paying attention to the email address used. People should always be careful. I agree that people should be careful, but they don't know how that mail field works. Logic dictates, that nobody can change my account details but me when I login to my account and any information I changed need to be approved. Anyway, thank you for solving this! |

We have implemented a solution to the presented issue which will be out in the next release and we will clear your email address from all other accounts. The solution is simply that when the account name on the login window changes, the email address is cleared, unless the user changes that email address.
