Hello,

My trading partner and I have recently switched to SierraChart after experience with several other platforms.

We are simply amazed at the depth and power hidden behind every single feature within SierraChart!

There must be an obvious reason for why duplicating charts has been chosen as the design solution as opposed to using chart templates to apply graphic settings.

Would you mind sharing the design philosophy that led to this decision?

We very much like the application of global graphics as well as chart duplicating, and this question is more to satisfy curiosity than anything else.

Thank you for a powerhouse of an application!

Best regards,
Mike

First here is the relevant documentation:
Using Chart Templates

If you are asking about why, you cannot create a chart based upon an existing unopened chart in a Chartbook, that just is something we have not supported. We suppose you could create a Chartbook with a single chart and then use that as a template for other new charts.
