Horizontal Lines study driven by output from another study?

Hi! I'd like to drive the Horizontal Lines study with the output from two other studies. One study outputs a high price, and the other study outputs a low price. The end goal would be to draw horizontal lines for the high and low prices, so I could shade them by using the "Transparent Fill Rectangle Top/Bottom" draw style. I know I can do this by just manually plugging in the numbers myself, but I need to do this automatically from two other studies. Is there a way to do this without writing a custom study? Thanks! |

You can do it using the Spreadsheet Study. Since the Spreadsheet Study will have the values from the other studies starting in column AA (by default) you can just reference that data in column K. For example, you would just enter in K3 =$AA$3 which will put the value of the study in AA3 in the entire column for K.

You can also do what you want with the Study Subgraphs Reference study.

Thank you, but how would that work with 2 inputs? The SSR study only has 1 input...?

There is a Study Subgraphs Reference (note the extra 's' in Subgraphs) as well as a Study Subgraph Reference. But, you could do it with 2 copies of the Study Subgraph Reference as well. In either case, you will want to set your Draw Style to Line at Last Bar Left to Right in order to get the line across the entire chart. Refer to the following: Chart Studies: Line at Last Bar Left to Right (ACSIL: DRAWSTYLE_LINE_AT_LAST_BAR_LEFT_TO_RIGHT) And also make sure the scaling is set to Automatic, the Study Subgraphs Reference is set to Independent by default. I missed the "s" at the end - thank you! I set the input study 1 and input study 2 to the outputs of my two studies. Study 1 has an output of 4446.92, study 2 has an output of 4440.63. Study 1 has a draw style of "Transparent Fill Rectangle Top", and study 2 has a draw style of "Transparent Fill Rectangle Bottom". Instead of drawing a filled rectangle between 4446.92 and 4440.63, the entire screen has a background of the colors selected for the subgraphs, not what was expected. Is this correct? |

Sorry, we totally missed that you were trying to fill the space between the studies. In which case, what Tom originally suggested with the Study Subgraphs Reference is correct. You can ignore the items we recommended, those were just to get lines displayed. The one thing we want you to do is to ensure that the scale for the Study Subgraphs Reference is set to Automatic. Refer to the following: Chart Scale and Scale Adjusting: Opening the Scale Settings Window For a Study Also, ensure that one subgraph is set to a fill style that has the word Top in it and the other has the corresponding fill style with the word Bottom in it. They have to pair up to fill properly. If that does not solve it, then give us a screenshot of what you are seeing. That was the one thing I missed, and now it works perfectly. Thanks, John!
