Hi,
I expected these color setting to be applied when price would HIT bid or ask at same level and side.
Currently it doesn't seems to be so: these color are applied even if price doesn't hit. It seems bid/ask refresh without transaction change the color.
So for example you have 6 printed on new level of recent ask column, then its bg immediately change to same price/side setting without transaction hitting the level.

This defeats the purpose of this interesting setting I think. Can you please review it please?

Hello,

I was expecting the same, how can we trigger background color change market orders hits the bid/offer?

Same question here.. Wondering if the lack of reply is due to something we're all missing and is operating as intended? I would assume the purpose of this color treatment is to show absorption at a certain level, which is very helpful, but the background color gets enabled even if there is only one trade at that side and price, I guess after the bid/ask is refreshed as OP indicated.

It is operating as intended. When a trade first occurs at a certain price level and side (bid or ask) then the "Recent Bid/Ask Same Price and Side Background Color" is not used. Then if a second trade occurs at the same Price and Side, then this background color is used. If the price moves, or if the opposite side is traded, then the background coloring is removed.

This is how it has been coded, and when we watch the trading with these options on, it is how these colors are working. Note that it is possible for it to appear that the coloring is occurring immediately (i.e. for a first trade instead of a second one), due to the Chart Update Interval where two trades would have occurred at the same time and price within that time interval.

Thanks John. I agree this is how I assumed it would work, and makes sense given your description.

However, what I'm encountering (and others I believe), is that the background treatment triggers even when a second trade does not occur at that side and price. For example:

Event: Trade 1 occurs at $719.1 on the bid
Result: No background is triggered
Event: Bid or ask depth changes (I believe this is what's triggering the next result)
Result: Background of $719.1 is changed, utilizing "Recent Bid/Ask Same Price and Side Background Color" setting
Event: Trade 2 occurs at $718 (Meaning, no second trade occurred at the $719.1 bid, yet the background was triggered anyway for Trade 1)

We'll see if we can take a look at this - we are just very busy and there some other things we want to get done first.
