I've done this a million times with no error during market replay. Then when I'm trading live I try to execute a Buy Stop-Limit order and nothing happened. The Trade Orders window showed two attempts even though I only clicked once. I tested it again way above the price and it printed the brackets to the chart perfectly. What happened? Screenshot of errors attached. |

Okay, I got a little more information from the Trade Service Log: "Trade Order Error - CQG order update. Status: REJECTED. Text: Buy order stop price must be above last trade price" Sounds pretty straightforward. The question I have is, I have used this type of order for months on Market Replay and have never been rejected or received an error message. I understand the obvious differences between live/replay trading, but with Market Replay being touted as so realistic that it even has an estimated order queue, shouldn't it post an error if I try to enter a Buy Stop-Limit w/ the price already above the Stop? And would you be able to recommend another order type that will prevent this error from occurring in the future while trading live? I recognize a market order would be one solution. Is there another? |
