in search of the correct symbol structure... my developer is connected to SC Data - All services when using the symbol NQH21-CME & indicating the exchange is CME, then I get a stream of trades (though on the charts, I use only NQH21 on this data service) I am connecting on SC Futures Order Routing (Denali) when using the above symbol I am getting an error (Invalid Input Symbol) when using the symbol NQH21_FUT_CME I am not getting an error but the prices are not relevant (looks like I get the EUR/USD rate) but this is the symbol I use on the charts is there any symbol guide methodology? looks like SC knows it as if I change the data feed I am getting a suggestion to replace all current symbols according to the selected data service (great feature btw) pls advise about what is the expected symbol format for each service (are there any differences vs. trading evaluator feed for example?) thanks |

We do not have examples of each connections symbology. But, as you have seen, when you change the Service, it asks you to update the symbols to the new service, which you should do (unless you are just doing a quick test for something and know you do not want to change). You can also select Edit >> Translate Symbols to Current Service to ensure that all charts are updated to the new symbology. If you want to make up your own table of symbol methodology, then you would just need to go through each Service option and go to File >> Find Symbol to see how that particular service deals with the symbols. Just note that not all services use the same primary symbol information (for example, the CME E-Mini S&P 500 Futures is ES, therefore with SC Data - All Services it is "ESM21-CME" for the M contract in 2021, but on CQG, they use "EP" instead of "ES"). For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Again, you can see the format by setting the Service to SC Futures Order Routing and then looking in Find Symbol. But, here is an example for the ES (CME E-Mini S&P 500 Futures): ESM21_FUT_CME For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
