A message popped up to close SC because of a DTC server issue. When I restarted SC the chartbook I was using opened to a previous version that was last saved back in December. I save whatever chartbook I'm using several times/day and whenever I exit SC. I have the settings set to save every 15 mins. I closed SC & searched the data and backup folders and it was nowhere to be found. Fortunately I saved it to Microsoft OneDrive 2 days ago so the modifications I lost were minimal. Is this possibly related? I can't see how but it boggles my mind how the chartbook could disappear/revert like that. Edit - I was able to find yesterday's version of the chartbook in the backup folder so I opened it in SC then tried a "save as" and changed folders to the data folder however it will only save it as a spreadsheet file. I tried everything and it will not save as a chartbook file...only a spreadsheet file. I was able to manually copy the CHT file from the backup folder to the data folder and now it's ok. Edit - I tested this and any chartbook with a spreadsheet will not save as a chartbook using "save as". It will only save as a spreadsheet. I tried this on several chartbooks. I opened Chartbooksexample.CHT and did a "save as" to save it with a different name and it did. However after I added the "Spreadsheet System for Trading" study I tried to "save as" and it would only save as a spreadsheet. What is going on? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-02-17 01:19:14

This does not make technical sense to us. And there are backups of the Chartbooks in the Backups folder: Chartbooks (Workspaces): Accessing a Backup Chartbook File This does not make technical sense to us either and we could not reproduce: however it will only save it as a spreadsheet file.
This whole post is not making any sense to us. This is wholly unrelated to the issue with TT. However after I added the "Spreadsheet System for Trading" study I tried to "save as" and it would only save as a spreadsheet. What is going on? This would actually be because the spreadsheet window is active. You have to go to a chart before saving the Chartbook.

>>>This would actually be because the spreadsheet file is active. You have to go to a chart before saving the Chartbook.<<< That was the first thing I thought of. I tried that and it didn't make a difference. |

OK - I figured it out. There has to be a chart within the main workspace window to "save as" a chartbook. I had 2 spreadsheets within the main window but all my charts were detached/floating. I opened a chart inside the main window and then I was able so save as a chartbook. So that mystery is solved. Still don't understand how my chartbook disappeared/reverted though. Edit - suggest you make a note in the documentation or re-program to enable "save as" a chartbook with all charts detached. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-02-17 01:52:57
