I use range bars..here is the scenario...i have a bar that opens red and then the price goes up but the bar remains red, even after it closes when it should be green. It also happens with green bars...and the worst is that it doesnt happen all the time..It is very frustrating trading when one is looking at chart and dome and it makes trading difficult. How do I fix this??

Check this setting and make sure it is set the way you want: Graphics Settings: Up/Down Coloring for OHLC Bars Based on Previous and Current Close (Global Settings >> Graphics Settings >> Other) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

John, This is what I get when clicking on your link. Up/Down Coloring for OHLC Bars Based on Previous and Current Close (Global Settings >> Graphics Settings >> Other) [Link] - [Top] When this option is enabled, and the Graph Draw Type in the chart is set to OHLC Bars (OHLC stands for Open, High, Low, Close), then the High to Low portion of a chart bar will be colored the Bar High-Low Up Color if the close of the bar is greater than or equal to the close of the previous bar. The High to Low portion of a bar will be colored the Bar High-Low Down Color if the close of the bar is less than the close of the previous bar. When this option is disabled, then the High to Low portion of OHLC Bars are colored based upon the comparison of the Open to Close within the same bar. This is what I did Global Settings Graphic Settings-Global Bar High-Low Down then I change color Bar High-Low Up then I change the color Bar Open then I change the color Bar close then I change the color but there is no change on the price chart. |

Make sure you are changing the colors in the correct place. If you are using Chart specific colors, then you would need to select Chart >> Graphics Settings - Chart. Refer to the following (and the 2 sections after it) for more information on chart graphics v global graphics: Graphics Settings: Introduction For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

ok i did what you asked. If a bullish bar opens low and closes high, we expect the bar to be green. As a bullish bar is forming, and price opens low and price is going up then we expect to see green. Similarly for bearish bars. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1607100393427.png I've tried to submit an image but not sure if this is it. |
