volume profile no overlap

hello,

i have been asked this a handful of times by some other sierra users and i dont think there is functionality for this, although i could be wrong.

is there any way we can not have the volume profiles over lapped by the candles? many like to see the same timeframes from volume profiles every single day and week so we set 3 different profiles separating the parts of a 24hr period, for example.
however, the candles always overlap the volume profiles when you set them this way. it makes it very hard to see where the volume nodes are and makes this visual tool somewhat less effective. when you put the charts in a TPO format, this is ideal. the TPO DOES NOT overlap the volume profiles, even if you have multiple different profiles.
it would be nice to be able to have the volume profiles like this with different styles of charts and not just tpo.
is there a way around this and if not, would you guys consider supporting this?

thanks in advance

If you just want to see the Volume by Price profiles and not see the bars, then just turn off the display of the bars data. You can do this by going to Chart >> Graph Draw Types >> Blank. Refer to the information here:
Chart Menu: Graph Draw Types (Chart menu)

You could also take the 3 different profiles, that you mention, and align them to the Far Right, which would then allow you to create a Fill Space that would not overlap those profiles. Refer to the information here:
Volume By Price Study: Right Aligning Multiple Profiles

Another option, if you still want to be able to see the bars in the same chart would be to set the Main Price Graph to blank and place your VbP profiles there, and then use the Add Additional Symbol (or Study/Price Overlay) and put the same symbol into the second region.

the only one that would work would be the second option but i wouldnt be able to have multiple days of the individual volume profiles only the one day. with the first option it defeats the purpose of not seeing the candles and with the 3rd option it still seems to overlay on top if the volume profiles.
what i am trying to create is essentially a tpo profile chart but with candles instead of letters or boxes or horizontal bars.
i dont care if it has the functionalities of the profile chart like the sub studies; i am only interested in the way that the volume profile does not get overlapped by the price chart.
the benefit of this would be the ability to not only have 30min candles (or any other time variation) but to have multiple volume profiles with renko charts or point and figure or volume candles etc.
the multiple and individual volume profiles provide a really nice graphic of the markets recent history.
if i try to put a renko chart on this current chart then the renko bricks overlap the volume profiles instead of keeping them separate.

Hi

I would like to overlay a volume profile from a daily candle chart on to my intraday chart so I can see where the large volume has accumulated on longer time frames. I did the study price overlay, but the hologram doesn't show up on my intraday chart, just the VAL, VAH and VPOC show up.

What am I doing wrong?

Nothing, it is not possible.

Study/Price Overlay Study

The following studies cannot be overlaid from one chart to another with the Study/Price Overlay study:

Volume by Price
TPO Profile Chart
Numbers Bars
Countdown Timer
Market Depth Historical Graph
(studies which display text only)

Okay, thanks. So I would need to do an All Bars Volume by Price and just extend the amount of data downloaded (days) on my chart if I want to get a more inclusive volume profile for a longer time frame, correct?

How can i accomplish to only see filtered VBP study by excluding Volume <=100 ONLY for the study and not all studies.
Im referreing to Delta Profile (bid-ask profile)

You can not do this. You would need to have a single chart that has the volume filtered as you want and then use the Volume by Price study on it, and then another chart without filtering for the other studies.

Thank you John for your reply. Idk how much effort it would make, but a Filter Function within the vbp study would be Great to have less noise.
