Hi, after update to v.1090 Historical and Intraday data services was unified and indexes renamed (eg. ESH4 -> ESH14). Do we have to redownload all the data?

There is now only the "SC Historical Data" service for historical only futures data. You need to rename your current chart data files using a two digit year. Here are the instructions: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_ChartDataFiles.html#RenamingFiles To take advantage of the enhanced historical data that is now available, you need to make sure that Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Allow Support For Sierra Chart Data Feeds is enabled. This change is still not yet finalized. Only the ES symbol is now set up for enhanced, tick by tick, historical data. The others will be done by the end of the week. OK. Do you support shorter data period? Continuous intraday data for ESH14 load only since 5.5.2008, instead of begin 2007. Data doesnt seem to be correct -- some data files are very small. |

One more thing: I use to load continuous chart data from remote SC instance. In various cases, especially when all symbol data needs to be downloaded on remote instance, Sierra crashes (win7). This has been the case since advanced continuous chart functionality was introduced (month ago).

For the ES the historical Intraday data, data goes back to the June 2008 contract. For earlier futures contracts, there is only Minute data available. One more thing: I use to load continuous chart data from remote SC instance. In various cases, especially when all symbol data needs to be downloaded on remote instance, Sierra crashes (win7). This has been the case since advanced continuous chart functionality was introduced (month ago).
Let us know what Data/Trading Service each of these instances you are working with is set to. And let us know the particular symbol you are setting to use a Continuous Futures Contract for. The advantage of the historical Intraday data available now is that the data quality for the tick by tick data which is available, is perfect. About SC crashing: I tried it now on two SC instances, both on 1088 version. Both are set to data service: SC historical intraday futures. I opened EMDH4 symbol (File->Find symbol), 1M chart, romote instance. Opened properly. I set volume based rollover continuous chart, 100days period; it starts downloading data but never ends and succeeds. After closing SC, Windows7 alerts "SC stopped working". Another thing is that only EMDH4 are downloaded on remote instance (data folder), EMDZ3 is on "local" copy. I noted similar behaviour with YM, ES, NQ. This is just for letting you know; when all the data are downloaded on "remote" instance first, there is no problem. BR/Mirek |

The Continuous Futures Contract functionality is not going to work properly on a chart which uses data from a remote instance. We had not thought about that scenario. We will make a note to support that. After closing SC, Windows7 alerts "SC stopped working". This may already be resolved in version 1091, if not it will be in version 1092.

Contemplating this some more, we really do not think it is going to be practical , at least for the time being, to support the Continuous Futures Contract feature for charts that use data from a remote instance. Therefore, we will have to block that.

Oh no, pls leave it as it is... If you want to backtest and use tick data on multiple instances, it would be VERY inconvenient to have to copy all the data all the time together with SC folder. Once downloaded on remote instance, it work fine now. I use one instance with all the data/all symbols downloaded and others only for testing... dont think this would be unusual scenario. Thanks Mirek |
