Is it possible to use current Theoretical Average to calculate Max Flat-to-Flat Open Loss? Maybe that's all I need to ask, but in case an example is helpful: --- My executions for today, in order: Sell 1 @ 3520 Sell 1 @ 3516.25 Sell 1 @ 3518 Buy 1 @ 3514.25 Sell 1 @ 3516.25 Buy 1 @ 3513.50 Buy 1 @ 3517.25 Sell 1 @ 3520.25 Sell 1 @ 3517 Buy 1 @ 3513.25 Buy 1 @ 3509.50 Buy 1 @ 3514.75 Here's what they look like on the chart: http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1602636812333.png And here's how I think of my Max Flat-To-Flat Open Loss, using LIFO calculations as I do in the SC trade activity log: Open short position (a) @ 20 Add (b) @ 16.25 Add (c) @ 18 AVERAGE: 18.083 / Position:3 / High Price: 20 / MAE = 50 * 3 * [18.083 - 20] = ($287.50) Close the (c) @14.25, booking 3.75 = $187.50 AVERAGE: 18.125 / Position: 2 / High Price: 19.50 / MAE: 50 * 2 * [18.125 - 19.50] + $187.50 (booked profit) = $50 Add (d) @ 16.25 and close it @13.50 to book: 2.75 [$137.50]. Total booked = $325 Close the (b) @17.25, booking -1 = [$50] / Total booked = $275 Holding (a) from 20. High price before next execution: 21.50 / MAE = 50 * 1 * [20 - 21.50] + $275 (booked profit)= $200 Add (e) @ 20.25 / Position: 2 / High Price: 21.50 / MAE = 50 * 2 * [20 - 21.50] + $275 = $125 Add (f) @ 17 and close it @13.25 to book: 3.75 [$187.50] / Total booked = $462.50 The rest is irrelevant to the MAE. My maximum heat was being down $287.50 after the add at (c). From there I never took heat again. But here's the rest: Close the (e) @ 9.50 to book: 10.75 [$537.50] / Total booked = $1000 Close the (a) @ 14.75 to book: 5.25 [$262.50] / Total booked = $1262.50 Is it possible to calculate Max Open Loss this way within Sierra Chart? In the Trade Activity Log the Max Flat-to-Flat Open Loss is $500. I attached a screenshot: 02_101320 max f2f open loss. Thanks. |

One question: Does your actual broker in LIVE trading support this method of trade reckoning? If not, this might be an exercise in futility when REAL trades are placed into the market. |

Live vs Sim is irrelevant. I put together a quick spreadsheet last night to take exported executions from SC and run this calculation. The "Trade Account" field played no role in any formulas.
