Is it really necessary to go to everything described in your documentation to convert security symbols for use with IB? This seems excessive when other charting systems have no need for this.

We do not know what you are asking about. If you are talking about translating futures symbols, you can do that with this command: Edit Menu: Edit >> Translate Symbols To Current Service when other charting systems have no need for this. We could care less about this.
