I have begun exploring the Step Trailing Stop for the first time today. But I have discovered that it can actually widen your stop. To illustrate: Long at 3093. Stop is initially at 3090. Step Amount is set to 5, Stop Offset is set to 2. The trade moves favorably to 3097. Trade Management by Study is adjusting the stop from a spreadsheet, and moves the stop to 3096. Price continues to climb to 3098 and triggers the STS, which then moves the stop *down* to 3095 (offset of 2 from entry). Is this expected behavior? it seems to me that anything labeled "trailing stop" should always and only move in one direction favorable to the trade. |
