I have an account with IB and trade mostly futures. I have read your documentation regarding your Order Routing and Data Services and believe it makes sense to set it up for my futures trading. Does this mean that I must set up a new trade account with one of the firms you list and then keep my IB account as a stock trading account; thus, having two separate accounts for two separate activities? I assume that IB would not allow a third party (i.e. Advantage Futures, AMP Global Clearing, Dorman Trading, etc.) to do the clearing for them. I must have two separate accounts, IB and one of the firms you list. I would love to keep my IB account and keep my funds there, and still use your service for futures routing. Am I correct that I cannot do that? |

Yes this is true.I would love to keep my IB account and keep my funds there, and still use your service for futures routing. Am I correct that I cannot do that? Yes you cannot do this. You do need to have funds with a different clearing firm. Now this may or may not be an advantage. Certainly it is good not to keep funds all in one place in case there is a problem with one firm. But then again if one firm you think is better than the other, then it can be a disadvantage.
