Control Bar customizations lost after update

I just updated to v2115 (from v19xx) and noticed that my control bar customizations have been lost. It looks like they have all reverted to the defaults. I went into the Backups folder and tried using some of the Sierra3.cfg files from before the backup, but they didn't produce my prior customizations either, which seems really weird. Could something be overwriting the control bar customizations with the defaults upon load of the .cfg file? Seems unlikely but i can't think of any other explanation ...
