Hi,

I just started the free trial with you and wanted to use my IB data feed. After much perusing I noticed Sierra Chart is doing the following:

-- Subscribe to real time updates for the selected symbol
-- Download intraday historical data from IB
-- Download daily historical data from a different server (I will not post the URLs for obvious reasons) which seems to be the data feed partner of Sierra Chart.

In the Data/Trade Service Settings I found no way to tell SierraChart to only do downloads from IB.

This is of much concern because I had been directed to you because of your DTC protocol and was planning to write my own DTC Server to Sierra Chart which would be interfacing to my own data sources.

Since I read you have implemented translations (post on 2014-01-20) for IB symbols to map them to your data provider, I was wondering if:

a) the aforementioned behavior is intended and works as designed

or

b) this is just a glitch due to the introduction of your own feeds

or else

c) I have not been able to find the right switch to download daily historical data from my preferred source

Thank you and best regards

For some symbols you chart when using Interactive Brokers, the data requests will go through our own sources. This is by design. Why is that a problem? The data we provide is superior to Interactive Brokers for the symbols being mapped to another source.

All data requests will go to Interactive Brokers if you are on Sierra Chart package 1.

In the case of the DTC protocol, there is no special data mapping that occurs. It will always go to the DTC server which is being used.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer. The problem is not with IB (almost any source is better than IB) but with my future implementation of my own DTC server.

But if no mapping occurs when the SierraChart is configured to go over DTC, then there is no concern on my side.

Thank you and best regards

Yes, the data requests will always go to the DTC server.

There are several conditions which can cause automatic mapping to another source:

-Sierra Chart package number.
-Data/Trading service being used.
-Symbol.
-Data type. Either Daily or Intraday.
-Whether subscribing to the Sierra Chart Real-time and Historical data feed.
-Symbol Settings for the particular symbol.

As you can see there is a lot of complexity to the routing. None of this occurs with a pure DTC connection.
