Good Afternoon Support. I am using Sierra 1081 with Interactive Brokers and SC New Real time Futures Data. An Issue I have been experiencing for several weeks is false triggering of price Alerts AFTER they they been re-armed. I.E The Alert is Triggered on Price ( eg NQ at 3618 ). Then I Click the Alert manager and Change the Price to lets say 3618.75 and Click Rearm on the Dialog box. The Alert often then immediately reactivates even though the price has NOT been triggered. This seems to occur more in a fast moving market and when you change the Alert price to a price which is within a few ticks of the original Alert price AND change the Alert immediately to a new price and then rearm. When I look a the Alert Dialogue box to change the Alert Value it often indicates in the 'Triggered Value' and 'Triggered At' Fields that the old/previously Triggered Alert Data is still present. So when I click rearm it believes the old Triggered values are still current and therefore the Alert should trigger again. If I wait for Several Seconds ( Im not sure how many. Maybe 10+ ). The Triggered Value' Fields are clear and the FALSE Alert will not trigger again and the Alert will work as expected. I have verified this behaviour for many days to ascertain if it is user error or a code issue. I believe it is a code issue. Any Hints? Cheers |

We do not see an issue when trying this. When you rearm the alert, the new value should show up in the Alert Manager tab. It can trigger right away if you rearm it very close to the current price. One thing to check is that your compare precision is properly set for the symbol alert. If it does not match the precision of the symbol, then the comparison could be bad due to rounding issues. The compare precision is generally picked up automatically from the symbol settings. You can also see the values in the Alerts Log tab of the Alert Manager. So you should be able to see the original alert, and then the subsequent values to see if they changed. |

Ok. Thanks for looking into it. BTW It doesn't occur on SPI futures. Only ES and NQ. I have played with the precision before. On ES/NQ it is set to 0.01 which I would guess is ok? Notice how even though I rearmed a second ago, it triggers again with the triggered value ( 3613.75 ) which was triggered 14 minutes ago. Computer Clock is 5:23pm. Trigger time is 17:09. There is also the time and sales in view to help you out. A feature request which you may want to look into in that milli second of spare time you may have ( or not ) is a way to Auto reset. Maybe Reset on Start of New Bar, or within x minutes? I appreciate that you are obviously very busy and keen to develop a world leading product. I have used Multicharts also for several years. I find Sierra Volume Profile tools exceptional and its flexibility and speed very good. Its also not too greedy with system resources. Keep up the good work. Alerts are still doing False Triggering as described above. Im using Version 1097. Im Patient, so Im just wondering how much longer until a fix? |

Yep, I know what you said. I have tested it in every version since. I keep hoping it gets fixed. I sometimes think maybe Im not testing it properly so I dont bother clogging up the Support Board. I just verified the issue as Im writing this response just to make sure. Im pretty sure the issue still exists. Also adding an 'Infinite Repeat" ( checkbox option? ) of the alarm would be handy. I set the Alarm to repeat 'X' number of times when triggered but thats not really a great solution. |

Were you using the context menu to re-arm the alert? If so, then that will be addressed in ver 1098. If you double click the alert line or edit the alert, it should rearm correctly.

I sometimes rearm using the Context menu but usually within the Alert manager by Double Clicking the Triggered Alert on the 'Symbol Alerts' Tab. I know it shouldn't make a difference but I generally trade ES and NQ using SC Data feed. To give an example, lets say I had an alert set to trigger at 3697. The price might have hit a high of 3697.5 and then closed at 3696. I go to the Alert Manager and reset the Alert to trigger at 3697.25. The price is currently still < 3697 the Alert will often trigger immediately. If I wait sometimes a few minutes and then rearm it is sometimes ok. If I create a NEW alert with EXACTLY the same trigger and price conditions the Alert will not trigger. So it appears it is not resetting the 'Triggered Value' Condition. |
