Hello: My questions are in regards to the mapping chart drawings setting listed in the title. What functionality is lost when this option is selected? Why is this not the default? How is the nearest match found? Thank you. |

I was until this change to referencing drawings having to match a bar number using an alert with a horizontal line. All was good. Now it doesn't work as it assumes the line is always zero because it does not have a reference to the current bar. I therefore changed to the nearest match option in global settings for tool settings. Still no joy. The alert does not take into account the value of the line and still seems to be going off zero instead. Is there anything I can do or can I assume that we can no longer use horizontal line IDs in chart alerts. If so, this is very disappointing and a step backwards in my opinion |

Tell us the alert formula you are using.

An example is ID1.SG4 > UDID[20][0] In this instance ID1 can be any study that can be displayed as candlestick bars (or similar) and UDID[20] is a horizontal line. The idea is simply that the alert will trigger when the study goes above the value of the horizontal line This worked fine both in its ID1 iteration and also using C (when the study is displayed as the main graph) up until the recent change in referencing chart drawings via alerts. It no longer works. Why this can be useful is it can be used as part of an automated trading formula Date Time Of Last Edit: 2020-05-29 13:20:37

We will solve this in the next release but in the case of a horizontal line for now you need to use the old referencing method: ID1.SG4 > UDID[20].A1 Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I've been testing out the old solution proposed (ie .A1) and there is a problem with it. If the line is dragged, whilst it is being dragged Sierra thinks its value is zero and so that formula will fire. When the dragging stops, Sierra recognises the correct value of the line and then the formula will work. It would be much safer if the alert could not trigger whilst the line was being dragged Date Time Of Last Edit: 2020-06-07 14:39:18

We will get this resolved in the next release. When you modify a drawing, its current value will still be recognized by the alert formula.
