Hi SC team, I know that you are not accepting new feature requests but if /when you have time for this, adding an option for the Global Cursor to work also between sub Instances would be very helpful. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2020-05-03 17:25:13

This would never be supported. The only interaction between instances can be accessing of market data, and performing trading.

Dear Dear Team, I understand the strategy behind your standpoint not developing a Global Cursor between Instances, but I would like to argue ab important point for you to consider: I have been using 2 instances on Sierra for the very simple reason that they run faster. I had to and here's why: In fact I have been using the Denali data feed for as long as you have been providing it, because it is so much faster than Rithmic, while still providing Depth data. But even so, my large Chartbook, having many charts to update, was too slow during times of increased volatility (nothing as problematic as with my old Rithmic feed, but still half a second or so compared to my independent Broker App and its data feed). This all changed when I separated some of my charts in my Chartbook to another instance. Ever since this change, my potential lag during increased volatility became absolutely acceptable and I never looked back. Sierrachart does an excellent job in handling so many of my charts and TPOs and DOMs at the same time. This is really an impressive price of software. And here you see comes the one disadvantage of having two instances: Global Cursor. A very common tool, used by every trader. But when I float around on my DOM I keep always wondering where I am on my TPO. That is why I am certain that this would be welcomed by many and we would so much appreciate if you gave it a consideration some time in the future. Thank you. |

Dear Sirs, I understand that so far interaction between instances has been only for data-sharing and trading, but I must ask if it was possible to share trend-line (so drawing) information between Instances. This is important, because (as you already know this from post of other users, too) there is an immense advantage in dividing computer resources between Chartbooks, especially in separate instances: it really improves the speed of a Chartbook, especially in times of volatility. And if it was not possible to share certain drawings between Instances, would it be possible to share between Chartbook in the same Instance? Thank you for your consideration. |

It is supported to share drawings between Chartbooks that are part of the same instance. Refer to the information in the fifth paragraph here: Chart Settings: Copy Chart Drawings from Chart #'s (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Drawings menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thank you. Yes! A friend already drew my attention to that. But does this mean that in-between instances it's not going to be possible?(to spare computer resources).

All we can say is that it is very doubtful that we will ever allow drawings to be copied between instances.

@DCSaba Use level export and import studies by Fred. Works great transferring levels from instance to instance. https://www.simplesystemtrading.com/sharelevels/ https://www.simplesystemtrading.com/autolevels/ I also miss the crosshair function... |

Thank you @Rift. I have indeed had a programmer fellow Trader create something like this, communicating between Session via csv files, but as we have a heavy Chartbook with 6 screens and a lot of small and complex Studies, it seems contra-productive to load the system with yet more to process. In fact my broker (that provides data parallel to the Denali feed) has still about a third of a second advantage over my Sierra's charts, because of the sheer load that Sierra has to perform. I even have reduced my DOM Depth just to make sure that there is no more than this lag, during times of increased volatility (which is sort of downright the situation for a Trader to become active). This is not to say Sierra can do this any better, it's just a Big Beast, so certain things will not be faster. I might be wrong about that, and perhaps Sierra could use more processor cores or more RAM, I don't know, but I think it already does a great job. |
