Is there a way to change the default handling of adding a new study to NOT add it to the same chart section as an existing study? It seems odd that the default handling is to assume, whenever adding a new study, that the user wants to always add it on top of an existing one. I want to change that odd choice of default handling.

It is dependent on the study itself as to whether it is put into a different region or not. Some studies, like the Moving Averages, are set to go into Region 1, as they share the same scaling as the Main Price Graph, which they are typically based on. Others, which do not share scaling, are put into a different region. So it should work as you expect. What study are you referring to?
