hi there! I'm about to switch to the SC real time and historical exchange datafeed. I'm not sure I understand one of the options of this datafeed. what is the exact meaning of this "the Number of Real-Time Symbols"? could you please clarify it for me?

1. let's say I've selected the option of 20 real time symbols. does this mean I can only trade maximum 20 different products at the same time?
2. once I traded a symbol, does it permanently reduce my max allowed real time symbol by 1, even if I never trade it again?
3. I understand that every futures product is counted as one real time symbol, right? for example, if I trade both CL and GC, then that's 2 real time symbols, right? but even for the same product, the symbols are different for each contract month, for example, the current contract symbol for CL is CLH20, and the next in line is CLJ20. will they be counted as 1 real time symbol or 2 real time symbols against the total number of allowed real time symbols?

We are no longer offering CME group data through the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed. You need to continue to use the Denali exchange data feed for CME group data and if you need other exchanges you can use the Sierra Chart Exchange data feed. We have reduced the cost of that data feed by 10 USD per month when using the Denali Exchange data feed.

So therefore the symbol limits questions in relation to CME group symbols are not relevant.

----
The symbols limit has to do with the number of symbols that are receiving data from the server at the same time. So if you are getting Real-Time data for CL and GC, that would count as 2 symbols. It does not have anything to do with trades.

Additionally, if you are tracking both CLH20 and CLJ20 then that would be 2 symbols as well, but typically you would only be watching the front month, which would then only be 1 symbol.

thanks for answer, really appreciate it!

one more question, let's say today I'm receiving data for 20 different symbols at the same time. but for the next day I abandon today's 20, and instead want to receive data for 20 completely different symbols at the same time. will I be able to do so?

Yes of course. Refer to this section here about this:
Chart Data and Chart Data Files: Reducing Number of Symbols Being Tracked by Sierra Chart

Also, these symbol limits are going to get removed in the coming months. This is part of our upcoming data feed plans.
