I think we desperately need a simple Search box where you can input a symbol, in this case AAPL, and a list of the chartbooks containing that symbol will appear. And also include a user inputted "Note Field" and "Go To" option so as to help us quickly identify and call up the desired chart..was it the 30 min AAPL chart with Bollinger bands or the Weekly one that contains Fib's and Moving Averages?. I don't know about others, but it's not unusual for me to have saved at least 5 different charts for the same symbol, with corresponding alerts, based on such metrics as time frame or studies utilized..and as I have over 10 Chartbooks, well I'm constantly speed cycling through the WAC throughout the trading day to find things..kind of ass backwards..and yes, I know the Alerts dialog box can take you to the specific chart after it fires but I often want to proactively go to a specific chart and it's very time consuming. This would make that key process much more organized and efficient. Just my humble opinion..really enjoy Sierra Charts nonetheless. |

Indeed..the WAC(Windows and Chartbooks) that I referenced in my post.. That being said, getting this essential task accomplished would be so much faster if able to input the desired symbol and the resultant Chartbooks & Windows would appear in a list of results. The WAC window requires you to cycle through each of your Chartbooks so as to find the desired chart window..and even then, it's only filtered by the time frame..so if you have 5 AAPL charts with the same time frame, you still need to open each one to see which has the bollinger bands on it and which has drawn trendlines. Being able to input your own Message in a provided text field when you create the chart and have that show in the results box would get you to where you want to be in a split second. Ex: Input Symbol: AAPL Chartbook/Window(User Defined Input): Bollinger Band Alerts/AAPL 30 min(Chart of Bolli's and MA's to watch) Anyway, thanks again for giving this consideration and please know that I'm available to provide feedback should it help with the creation of this functionality. |

The capability you are looking for already exists. We have added a new paragraph describing how this works in the Windows and Chartbooks description: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_WindowMenu.html#WindowsandChartbooks Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. That's awesome that you can input descriptive text so as to uniquely identify a window in the WAC..great to know! That being said, I hope you get a chance to look over my #1 request which is the ability to go from symbol to desired window w/o having to scan through chartbooks. So, in other words, a command similar to the WAC but based on the symbol being at the top of the command chain rather than chartbooks. The WAC command is a great feature but having to scan through what could be an unlimited number of chartbooks each containing potentially an unlimited amount of symbols is a bit taxing. Anyway, I'll be watching attentively for any updates on this. In the meantime, I have many windows to add descriptive text to. :-) |
