it seems that a new SC (sub)instance (launched with the New Instance menu command and hence running on the same machine), which then becomes a DTC Client of the main/initial SC instance, receives only a fixed, limited number of market depth levels ie the standard 10 and not the new extended market depth the data source is the SC data and the test symbol was GC |

We are not seeing this. We see the full amount of market depth in the sub instance. Newer versions of Sierra Chart can control how many levels of market depth data are received from the server when using our own data feeds but this does not apply to sub instances. However, check this setting in the sub instance: Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> SC Server Settings >> Max Depth Levels Set it to 0. Thinking about it, that setting will actually impact the depth. So you do need to set that to 0. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. the setting for both the main and sub SC instances is at the default 0 both the main and the sub instances do NOT get the extended market depth for the test symbol GC - both get only the standard market depth at the same time on another machine I have a separate SC instance which is also subscribed to SC Data Feed (however as a component of Interactive Brokers as the Trading Service) - it does get the extended market depth from SC for GC (however I have not tried with sub instance but that's now not the main issue here) |

the reason was that in the new market depth study there is a param for max levels and on top of that its default value is 40 (plus of course my ignorance of the extended list of params in the new versions of the market dept study)
