Can you explain how trailing stops work? Does the modification increase the margin before the trailing stop is executed and accepted? This is on CQG.

We do not know the answer to this. You need to ask CQG. We would think the answer would be no.

A trailing stop is simply a stop order that trails the market price. It is modified by Sierra Chart.

Thank you for the response. I spoke with CQG about this and it sounds like the trailing stops are being placed on a 1 + 1 system, meaning, it is taking up margin to submit the trail. Since we used up all out margin in the outright positions, my trail modification is being rejected.

ALso, for some reason, the trail continues to be sent in over and over. Is there anything we need to select to make sure the trialing stops do not continue to be sent in after it is rejected?

Thanks,

The trailing stop order must be immediately canceled. This is an unusual circumstance. And a new stop order submitted to replace it.

Got it, i appreciate your answer. For some reason, the immediate cancel is not happening and the order continues to be sent to the market. We generate something around 100 rejected orders ever few seconds. Is there anything that could be causing this?

If it helps, I have Auto Trading enabled. Could this be the reason?

That could be based on the information we have seen from the user due to some sort of order ID synchronization issue which is very unusual to begin with. Cancel the order from your side, we assume you have access to it. Or call the clearing firm to cancel the order.

We are also going to implement the next week, counting of order modification failures and stopping of trail order modification if it exceeds a certain amount.
