Hello, I am a bit confused about the formation process of the Range Bars (Open = Close). The screenshot above shows a chart with "Range Per Bar - Standard(in ticks)" (Setting: 4) and below with "Range per Bar - Open = Close" (Setting: 4). The marked bars have different Volumes and POCs. Why does the right red bar only have 4 ticks using "Range Per Bar - Open = Close" compared to other bars in this chart and the "Range Per Bar - Standard(in ticks)" chart? How is the transition from one bar to the next? Thanks Date Time Of Last Edit: 2018-10-17 19:08:30

Refer to the documentation here: Chart Settings: Intraday Chart Bar Period >> Bar Period Type >> Range Per Bar - Open=Close (in ticks) Duplicate the chart and remove the Numbers Bars study, do you then see the proper range? If so, then it must be a case where the market trading activity gapped by a tick or more. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I know the documentation, but there is no explanation for that behavior. left side: I removed all studies in the "Range Per Bar - Standard(in ticks)" (Setting: 4) chart, duplicated the chart and set to "Range per Bar - Open = Close" (Setting: 4). right side: with study Numbers Bars. The result is the same. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2018-10-18 05:34:06

Most likely this is because of New Bar at Session Start. Refer to the documentation here: Chart Settings: New Bar at Session Start (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Session Times >> Intraday Chart Session Times menu)
