Chart Scaling issues

I have lots of chart scaling issues when using TPO (market profile) charts and number bar charts that: 1) when I enlarge the chart screen the numbers overlap or show huge space between the numbers / letters 2) while new number bars are created if the price moves significantly the number bars numbers overlap and you end up constantly adjusting the scale which is quiet distracting when you trade and have to constantly play around re-scaling and using different options to get the data on your screen back to readable. I do not understand the logic in general. Why would you show overlapping unreadable numbers on number bars or overlapping letters on TPO market profile charts? It should automatically correct this. Please advice. |

This is not something that can be automatic because the price tick increment is a constant and would not make any sense to automatically change. That would get very annoying. And automatic adjustment would be monumentally inefficient anyway. Update Sierra Chart to the current version following the instructions here: Software Download: Fast Update And refer to these particular sections: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/NumbersBars.php#ScalingANumbersBarsChart http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/NumbersBars.php#AdjustingTickSizeForLargerIncrement http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/StudiesReference/TimePriceOpportunityCharts.html#Scaling Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I believe that with number bars a user should never have to change the 'Interactive Scale range' to 'repair' the numbers in the Numbers Bars from overlapping. For me it does not make sense they often overlap, I can't see a good reason for it, why someone would like to see unreadable overlapping information? Neither it make sense for me that once I got them fixed, after a while, they overlap again. As a lame user / trader I can't make sense of this and once they overlap again they cause stress and distraction from trading as in the middle of my trading session I must go and 'play' with the the settings to fix them again. For me it would make total sense that Sierra Chart prevents me from seeing overlapping numbers or any data without my intervention during the day. Reading the particular sections you refer to on 'Scaling Numbers bars' and 'Scaling Time Price Opportunity Charts' I must apologize for not really 'getting' the logic of it. All I wish for is I never have to deal with overlap again causing unreadable information. Don't take me wrong. I love Sierra Chart. For the rest it is awesome. |

Unless we were to make the font size automatic. We can do that.

Without understanding the matter completely, I would say that you limit a minimal distance between TPO letters or a minimal distance (in pixels, like a few pixels) between the number bar numbers to avoid overlap. If people like to change the settings after they can use the menu options offered. Maybe the automatic font size does the same thing.. leaving a minimal space between the letters/numbers even if you reach the tiny font size (1) but they do not overlap. Sounds like a nice solution to me :) |

I totally agree with this issue. I just don't get the logic of this interactive scaling, independent, constant scaling etc. I just want to pan with my mouse and zoom in&out with my wheel. That's it. Here's how my chart looks like and i can't fix it. Just can't think of it like an engineer

I just want to pan with my mouse
Use the Hand tool and be sure to have this setting enabled:Chart Drawing Tools: Support Vertical Scaling/Movement With Hand Tool (Global Settings >> Tool Settings >> General >> Tool Options) zoom in&out with my wheel
Refer to this setting:General Settings Window: Scroll Wheel Setting (Global Settings >> General Settings >> GUI >> Scroll) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
