Hi, When I setup the Spreadsheet system for trading, it contains all the study data in columns on the spreadsheet For example, VWAP data in column BK So I organise my VWAP trading formulas according to the data in column BK However, if I add a new study, the data for that study is inserted at the beginning of the spreadsheet So all exisiting studies are suddenly moved to a different column So my VWAP data is no longer in column BK, and none of my formulas work This is very frustrating, because whenever I add a study, my entire spreadsheet becomes useless Is there any way to set the spreadsheet to add new study data to the END of the spreadsheet, so it doesn't affect the existing data ? (p.s. I have searched the board, but couldn't find a solution) Thanks |

The solution is to use the ID#.SG#@row# reference, instead of the traditional alphanumeric column/cell reference. Working with Spreadsheets: References to Study Subgraph Columns when using the Spreadsheet Study Another less useful solution is to always add studies to the bottom of the Studies to Graph list (and never rearrange studies in the list) because studies' outputs to the spreadsheet study appear in the same order as the list. However, this solution does not solve the same problem if you increase/decrease the Number of Formula Columns, or if you Insert/Delete columns. |

To solve this, you need to refer to the Subgraphs directly, rather than using direct spreadsheet cell references. There is already a setting for maintaining the references when inserting rows/columns. When that is enabled one should be able to assume the references within formulas would be updated when adding/removing studies as well. This has caused me countless hours of frustration, yet could be supported in code with a find/replace operation run automatically.

Yes. Select the last study in the Studies to Graph list, and then add the new study. This will maintain the original order and place the study at the end of the list. This may present calculation order issues, but it will maintain the correct order. If the studies are not in the proper calculation order and precedence, you may end up with old data from the previous time the study was updated. |
