hi, i am havin issues with sierra that seems to take too much memory or CPU or whatever it it - the point is that the laptop get completelly frozen.

it happens after an autobektest. that means the sierra does not even work right now - it doesnt calculate anything and it is disconnected so it is not loading any chart.. nothing. it just stays there after one autobeckest and it takes 2.5 giga of memory! it is quite a lot, dont you think? it makes the laptop ready to be restarted..

why is it so and how to solve it?

is it because it somehow holds the results of the bectest somewhere in the memory or what?

i though it is much more efficient when it comes to memory management

You are in a better position to know why there is more memory being used as compared to us since you know what you are doing.

Normally this would not amount to much memory use. But have a look at how many lines are in the Trade Activity Log from the back test. But you would have to be having something like hundreds of thousands of lines for there to be a measurable memory impact.

The amount of memory Sierra Chart uses is based upon what you are doing with it. You are the one in control and only you know what you are doing. Not us. Sierra Chart can use a lot of memory, if you are loading a lot of data into a chart, or using certain kinds of studies . You cannot do massive and extensive things with Sierra Chart and think it is not going to use much memory.

This is a good example of where you have to think before you post. All of this is just common sense and help topic 30 is found in the documentation. In general there is nothing of value that we have provided here assuming we have given you help topic 30 previously.

well, ok.. i did not do anything special.. seems like it needed to be restarted, for some reason it occupied too much memory after first loading of the charts. after restart it occupies only 400 mb (not 2500) with the exact same setting

Refer to Days to Load here:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/ChartSettings.html#DaysToLoad

The loaded data in the charts was reduced after the restart.

Or there is some other software running in within the address space of Sierra Chart using that memory.
