I have been using a trial of Stockcharts for a specific purpose, but since I have an ongoing paid account with Sierra I would prefer to set up my required chart here. My problem is with the PPO indicator, which in stockcharts has 3 setting for my purpose (12, 29, 9} which produces two solid lines and a small bar chart across the bottom of the screen. Sierra, however, has only two numerical settings for PPO, the third providing a variety of Moving Average options, none of which are visible on screen. As a result I am only getting one visible line, not two, and no bar chart at the bottom. My main concern is the two lines which have relevance to my strategy. Can you please help??? Thanks, Leo |

You are referring to this particular study here: Percentage Price Oscillator We are going to add detailed documentation for that study. The other line from the other program must be a Moving Average. You can accomplish that by adding a Moving Average study and basing it on the Percentage Price Oscillator. Refer to: Chart Studies: Settings and Inputs Tab >> Based On - Basing a Study on Another Study Also have a look at the Arithmetic studies for other calculations you may need to do: Using the Basic Arithmetic Studies Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Thanks for your reply, but after struggling with this for 3 hours, we still have a problem:- The PPO by definition should display two lines, corresponding to the two inputs which in our case are 26 and 12 which are the two separate long and short MAs (26,12), however only one line is displayed. I am guessing that perhaps a second subgraph may be required for the second line to display, but even after reading the section on subgraphs, it is still impossible to get the second line to appear. Also the histogram normally associated to the PPO does not display as there is no input instruction in your version. This would normally be set at 9. In this instance would it be simpler to set up two MAs on the same Based On setting? Your help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Leo |

Yes, the only way to accomplish what you are stating is to use multiple studies. I understand the PPO line and the Moving Average of the PPO itself, but I do not understand the second line you mention. If it is another moving average then follow the steps below to add it as well. In order to accomplish what I mention above, put on the PPO study first, using your chosen lengths. The documentation for this is here: Percentage Price Oscillator Then add a Moving Average - Exponential study to the chart. In the Moving Average - Exponential study, change the Based On setting to the PPO study. If you want to see the result in the same window as the PPO, then set the Chart Region to be the same as the PPO, otherwise set it to a different region of the screen, typically one value higher than the PPO to have it show up below the PPO study. Then set the Moving Average Length to 9. The documentation for this is here: Moving Average - Exponential If you want to see the Moving Average of the PPO as bars, select the Subgraph tab and change the Draw Style to Bar. You can find documentation for this here: Chart Studies: Subgraphs Tab >> Draw Style For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

As best as we understand this, attached is a study collection which accomplishes this. The above PPOSetup.StdyCollct file does not do anything when applied to my charts. I do not get any error messages. Does this mean the study collection is too old and not compatible with version 2458? Does this also mean that in order to use this study collection, I would have to go through the process of rolling back my Sierra Chart to some time in 2017 and go through the procedure of converting the study collection to be compatible with Sierra's current editions?

The above study collection is too old. We have updated it, so attached is a version that will work with the current Sierra Chart versions.
