I use horizontal alert lines all the time, but the problem is the alert only triggers if I have the chart (with the alert line) open and set to the correct symbol. I trade stocks and I'm constantly flipping through charts and setting alert levels using a custom alert line hotkey. I can't keep all these windows open and I find myself missing alerts on a daily basis. The only solution I know of is to use the alert manager which does monitor price alerts in the background. However with alert manager I have to manually type in symbols and price alerts. The process is slow and I would much rather draw a line and have it automatically added to the alert manager. Would it be possible to add such a feature with a custom indicator or tool? I'd be willing to hire a developer if necessary. |

It is possible to right-click on the chart and select Add Symbol Alert. This is documented here: Alerts Manager: Symbol Alerts Would it be possible to add such a feature with a custom indicator or tool? I'd be willing to hire a developer if necessary. Perfect! Sierra Chart never ceases to impress. I found plenty of goodies under "customise chart shortcut menu" settings.

Nick, if I understand your question correctly, you might take a look at drawing a line at the price you want to be alerted to and then add an alert to the line. When price hits the line, you get an alert.

Here is more information about this related to a default chart drawing alert configuration: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Tools.html#DefaultChartDrawingAlertConfiguration
