How do I prevent my open chart from automatically closing when I click on a button on Chart Bar 1?

We do not understand this. What button are you pressing?

The only way to close a chart is to use the standard X button at the top right of a chart window, or close the Chartbook.

When I use the commands on control bar 1. the chart I am trying to add a command to automatically minimizes to the bottom of my screen,

Regarding the question about the colors of the Profit/Loss on the Trade Activity Log, refer to the documentation here:
Graphics Settings: Setting the Background Color, Text Color, and Font for Text Only Windows

The colors can be changed through the following:
Position / Chart Trade Stats Tabs Long / Profit
Position / Chart Trade Stats Tabs Short / Loss

Also make sure that the Sierra Chart instance running is up to date by selecting Help >> Download Current Version.
