i am having a problem with the pivot points and a tick chart.. i am overlaying them from the daily chart and when the new daily bar plots after 5pm everyday they draw one little dot (which are the pivots for the next day). it doesn't do this with minute bars. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1378265086624.png if i use the "reference daily chart for data" feature and plot them directly to the tick chart then they don't plot the same as my weekly & monthly pivots (if i forward project them they will be the only pivots that project & if i dont use it then the values will not show in the value scale). it would be very helpful if either this could be solved or add the "reference daily chart for data" feature to the Pivot Points - Variable Period study. adding the option to use the daily chart data for variable period pivots would also give the added bonus of allowing them to forward project properly as they do not when i overlay them from the daily chart. i will provide a chart-book if needed thank you |

This is nothing more than daily pivot points being overlayed from a daily chart to a tick chart. Could you at least give me the code for pivot points - daily & pivot points - variable period so I can add "reference daily chart for data" to pivot points variable period please? That would solve the problem

Really, is that all it is. If it is easy, you can figure out the problem. You already have the source code. This is all provided with Sierra Chart in the /ACS_Source folder. no its not easy, in fact it is really hard. but i didn't think it would be for you guys. i have seen you all whip together an entire study and have it out the next day, so i didn't think adding a feature that already exists to a nearly identical study would even take more than 5 minutes for you guys. could you please just help me out here, i have no clue what I'm doing

This technically does not make sense: it would be very helpful if either this could be solved or add the "reference daily chart for data" feature to the Pivot Points - Variable Period study.
So it is not something we can help with.

so it wouldn't be possible for the Pivot Point - Variable Period to reference a week or months worth of data from a daily chart?

OP, FYI I had the same issue, and the only way I was able to get the same pivot points on my volume chart (similar to tick) as minute charts was to use the pivot points - daily study but to set it to NOT use daily data, and set it to NOT use day session only, and replicate it manually across all of my volume and minute charts. The only problem I have seen is after weekends, they seem to be off due to Sunday data I think, not sure how to solve this. I do agree it would be nice to be able to toggle RTH vs ETH hours, and overlay variable period from a daily chart and have these all work properly, and also fix the Sunday issue. |

Thanks for the input. If I didn't use historical daily data to create the pivots it wouldn't plot accurately because they will use midnight close rather than settlement and that could give incorrect values for highs, lows, and definitely closes. I tested out plotting the pivots directly to my tick chart and even when using the "reference daily chart for data" they plot fine. That is why I was asking if they could add this option to the Pivot Points - Variable Period if it isn't difficult because it would fix not only this problem but another problem where they won't forward project properly when overlayed from a daily chart.

You can set session times for each chart, that should allow the use of the H/L/C you want to use? Yes, agree on your other point.
