Hello Support, I was wondering if I can connect my IG Index account to Sierra Charts via FIX API? I've linked the below for your review regarding there API services. Is this something that Sierra Charts can accommodate? http://www.ig.com/uk/apis Thanks. Gurdeet |

hello support, i'm as well very interesting to trade IG product with sierra. Probably lot of Ig's customers should be... IG is a very good and reliable cfd broker better than Fxcm for spread and tick increment but Ig use Prorealtime platefome which doesn't give me any satisfaction compared sierra. Best cfd broker need best retails plateforme ;-) i'm happy you will plan a connection but could you give us a deadline please ? Thanks |

Hello Support, I've spoken to IG Index UK and they said they are not aware of any agreement with Sierra Charts to make it compatible with the IG Index System. Are you sure its IG Index UK and not another company with a similar name? Thanks |

That is what we were hearing about LMAX and that turned out to be a waste of our time.

But why turned LMAX out to be a waste of time? Isn't anybody using it or any other reason? |

There are probably about two or three users of LMAX. Also E-Signal was waste of time, we integrated to E-Signal and they have failed at this moment in time to ever offer their service to our customers yet they are more than capable of doing so. So it cannot even be used by our customers and potential customers and now they want $3000 minimum a month. They simply do not want the competition even though they provided us the technical specifications to integrate to their service. The whole thing is totally outrageous. We have to be very careful with service integration. Customers really do not appreciate the tremendous technical problems and challenges that we face when integrating to a service or all of the effort involved. You will be surprised at all of the problems and junk we encounter. So we wonder whether this IG Index is even worth it. At this time, it is on hold and not going to be considered right now. It is not worth it for a handful of users. From a customer perspective, lots of times they think that we are going to get lots of business if only we do this or that. If only you add this feature or if only you add support for this particular service, you will get lots of business. The hard reality is this is simply not true. Not even in the slightest. It is an incorrect belief. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point. Sorry to hear about esignal, i think they have a good product. You aren't the first 3p devs who got burnt by their api politics. Not sure what their intention is with this.

What is 3p ? This is serious if they have hurt others as well. We spent time and money integrating to their data feed and they have not provided the data feed to our customers. And give excuses as to why they have not yet. And then they start changing the terms. For years, we did not support E-Signal because we knew there was very little interest in it. It was an expensive data feed and we saw little benefit with it. When we finally did, E-Signal did not perform as of yet and have not acted in the good faith. When and if they do perform, then it will become available. We do not know when this will be. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. 3p = third party developers, sorry I just know that others had problems too, but not as bad as this. Things like deliberately not making features available thorugh the api that were available for their own product(such as extended historical data), and taking forever to clarify protocol issues/bugs leaving developers dead in the water, ignoring support requests and so on. They seem to be a difficult bunch to work with. |

There appears to be a difference of opinions between SC Engineers and their posts regarding IG Markets, so let me summarise and clarify … Sep/Oct13 posts: “It is not worth it for a handful of users” “E-Signal was waste of time” “LMAX was a waste of time” “So we wonder whether this IG Index is even worth it … for a handful of users” Nov13 post: "We expect that support for IG Market (Index) will probably be ready by March 2014" (LINKING SC WITH IG INDEX) imo. E-Signal = just another charting package, overpriced, & SC is way better = so who would? LMAX = only FX, 100:1 leverage, 1 pip spreads = what’s the incentive here? IG for a Handful of users = please!?! IG Markets: 140,000+ clients, 950 employees in 14 countries, 400:1 leverage (with Stops), 0.8 spreads (0.4 for ‘heavy’ users) = ‘that’s a no brainer’, as a broker! (stats source: Google & http://www.spreadbettingdaily.com/uncategorized/ig-markets-review/ ) IG’s chart platforms: in-house charts, IT-Finance Charts & MT4 = “using these is & would be like trading-in your auto-mobile for a skateboard” IG’s Head of technical dept. London have advised, IG welcomes any third party (individual or corporate) to implement their own interface. IG’s platform is based on FIX and SC has full support for FIX and FAST. I personally have been using IG for 8 years, great customer service, fast executions and most Instruments (Symbols) open to trade around the clock even on mid-week holidays; and as trading is about making money, more and more traders every day realise the simplicity of CFD’s (versus conventional holdings) and their advantageous spreads & margins. So SierraChart Owners & Engineeers, … to tap into a 140,000+ client base market like IG with the BEST Charting Package on the Planet, is like offering candy in a Kindergarten. But make no mistake, a little more online marketing & exposure will go a long way (as indicated to you in my responses directed to your corporate email). Yes Im interested in IG integration also. I trade with Interactive Brokers for years but also have an IG account which I sometime use but would use more if it had a good front end like Sierra Charts. Great Idea, although I know you are very busy. |

Engineering, I'm surprised about the offer to integrate SC with eSignal - it's never going to work because of a conflict of interests. eSignal offers charts, indicators and chart trading just like SC does except it's not as good as SC. Anyone using eSignal and then SC will question why use eSignal. I can't see eSignal doing anything but stonewalling SC on this one. IG are different because they are a broker. ProRealTime are good at a lot of things but very frustrating with the limitations SC do not have. For example, if you want to overlay one indicator on another PRT have set limitations on what indicator works with another indicator. Also the PRT version offered through IG was a cut down version of the top PRT package. I don't know if that is still the case as it's been a few years since I compared both. However PRT offer free data though IG whereas PRT's data feed is expensive going direct to PRT, so it depends on the whether SC can offer free data for IG subscribers. IG offer the benefit to UK customers of tax free spread betting on financial markets and they do have a large client base but how many are sophisticated enough to need more than PRT is a question. I'd be interested in trading IG spreads if SC were offering the front end. Spread betting companies are infamous for pinging clients with wide spreads so hearing recommendations for IG from SC users is helpful. If SC can offer a complete free package to IG customers such as PRT do then it would probably interest a lot of their customers once they compare java based PRT with SC. There doesn't appear to be any conflict of interests here unlike eSignal who have a lot of dissatisfied customers at the moment (Google it). No way eSignal will invite their customer base to try SC. Engineering have you considered emailing your own clients to see what they think of tying up with the likes of eSignal or IG or whoever else is on your future list? The feedback might be helpful to prioritize what you focus on and save you some time and frustration. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-05-20 06:22:55
