bug: detaching spreadsheet destroys all formatting

I spent hours formatting a spreadsheet, got it just the way I like, then tried to detach it. ALL my formatting disappeared. Very frustrating. You should fix this. I shouldn't have to save SC before I detach a spreadsheet window. At the very least there should be a warning somewhere in plain sight, NOT embedded in many pages of documentation like you usually do (though I don't know if you have one in the documentation b/c I haven't looked for it, nor will I, I have wasted too much time on this). AND I have autosave enabled every 15 minutes -- but it did no good. All formatting made after opening SC early this morning disappeared.

If you are referring to the CLR version of Sierra Chart, then this may not be simple for us to resolve. We are no longer doing any further development of the spreadsheets in the CLR version.

We are developing all new spreadsheet functionality in the non-CLR version which is beginning to become available now.

If you are not sure whether you have the CLR or non-CLR version, then most likely you are running the CLR version.

In any case, what you describe is not something that would have been obvious to us when we developed the detaching functionality. Detaching a Spreadsheet window is new.

What we are going to have to do is prevent detaching of Spreadsheet windows in the CLR version to prevent this problem.

We really did not properly or responsibly answer this problem in our first response. When we had looked at this, we had a quick initial impression that there was something going on within the spreadsheet object at a lower level that we could not control. We have a better idea of what is going on but as we said we are not doing any further development of the spreadsheets in the CLR version.

Therefore, we need to prevent the detaching of Spreadsheets in the CLR version.

What you should do if you are not going to allow detaching is have an always on top function.

This is not possible with these types of windows on Windows.
