I have noticed that SIM orders do not get filled when Sim mode is disabled. Why is that?

This is true. This is how it is designed.

Ok. But if one wants to try a new strategy on the sim while trading live, it's not possible. Doesn't make sense really.

It makes complete sense. You need to use a separate copy of Sierra Chart for your simulated trading. What you are doing is inconsistent with the design of Sierra Chart with trading. Trade simulation mode and live trading are completely separate and function completely separate. Simulated trading is disabled when Trade Simulation Mode is off. Well, if I'm on sim my live order will execute alright (of course), so your suggestion to use a second copy doesn't mean that it makes compete sense. Anyway, I understand you don't want to change this, and it's alright. However, at a minimum, changing from SIM to live SC should delete any outstanding unfilled sim orders, flatten positions, and notify about it. Now, the orders remain on the Orders window (signaling that they are working as expected) and when I change back to Sim they will instantly fill hundreds of ticks away messing the strategy statistics. End of rant. |

Live orders are filling external to Sierra Chart. We will add a notice that simulated orders will not fill when leaving trade simulation mode. You should not be disabling Trade Simulation Mode if you want simulated orders to fill. This is the issue. We have updated the documentation to explain this. And no, this is not going to change. This is the last thing we would ever do. If we make a mistake with the implementation and cause some kind of unexpected live trading issue, that would be disastrous. Yes, of course they are external. I was just making a point.
