Numbers Bars question

Hi,

I am testing Sierra Charts, because it seems to fit very well for me. But I am an enthusiast of footprint charts, and using Numbers Bars study I get strange data. In Market Delta or Multicharts footprints, most of the bars has a 0 in bid at the high of the bar, and a 0 in ask at the low. Bars with numbers different from 0 in the high or low are just a few, and in fact, they have a name: unfinished auction, which give trading oportunities.

But with Numbers Bars, the equivalent to footprint, almost every bar has bid and ask different from 0 in both high and low of the bar. I attach an image.

Probably I am doing something wrong, but I need to know how to avoid it and have actual unfinished auction footpring bars.

Also, I would know which study have I to use to have colored bars instead of numbers in the bottom of the chart of the screen capture. It shows the net balance of the bar (sell market orders - buy market orders). I want to draw a bar, not a number. Which study need I to use?

Thanks

Most likely the problem is you do not have Sierra Chart set for a tick by tick data configuration. Refer to:
Tick by Tick Data Configuration

It sounds like you want to use the Bid Volume versus Ask Volume study:

When posting an image of a chart only use the method documented here:

Thank you for the answer. The question regarding to the Bid Volume vs Ask Volume, yes, that's what I looked for.

The 'non zero' at high and low of the Number bars, still is happening. I have set the tick by tick configuration, disconnected and connected again. Test with different configurations (5 min chart, 100 tick chart, 4 tick range chart). Nothing changes: most bars have unfinished auction.

I am using a CQG demo account provided by AMP. And I have configured it under CQG WebApi. If I try with CQG FIX, doesn't connects.

Did you re-download the data as the instructions explain? Apparently not.

Hello fjgaspar,

How did you go to display a 0 at the top for the BIDs, and a 0 at the bottom for the ASK?

Thanking you in advance.

Hi Dorian,

It is explained in the thread. First, configure the tick by tick data configuration. Then, re-download the data.

Follow the instructions here:

Tick by Tick Data Configuration: Historical Bid Volume and Ask Volume

And you get it.
