Hello, I am using point and figure charts for forex with 2 box reversal. I am using Gann fan. I am not able to get a true 45 degree on these charts. Please check the chart there are 3 lines. The first line is a 4 and 1, the second is 5 and one, the third is 3 and 1 (setting on the Gann) None of these produce a 45 degree. Is there another way to do this?http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1376412612648.png Thank you, Madra |

Review the documentation here for the Gann Fan drawing tool: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_Tools.html#GannFanTool It explains how to get the proper angles. However, keep in mind that visually a 45 degree angle may not look that way even though it is 45 degrees. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Thank you, But how does one know if the line is 45 degrees if one cannot tell visually? I have two lines on the screen capture. The lower line looks close to being correct. Is this correct? Hope that I am not being a bother. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1376444990378.png Thank you, Madra |

A 45 degree angle is a line with a slope of 1. As long as you have the Value per Point set correctly or to reasonable value, it will be 45 degrees. This is explained in the Tool Usage section for the Gann Fan tool here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_Tools.html#GannFanTool Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Hi i am also confused regarding the above. how can i know if the line with a slope of 1 is at a 45 degree angle when i apply the gann fan? for example i can set the line with a slope of 1 to almost horizontal, or i can set it almost vertical. why doesn't the line with a slope of 1 automatically get set at a 45 degree angle when i click on the chart to place the gann fan?

There have been some recent changes to Gann Fan tool. For the current instructions for this, refer to: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_Tools.html#DrawingLinesSpecificAngles You will know that it is 45°, if you have the Value Increment per Bar set correctly. Normally this should be 1 tick. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point.
