FROZEN CHARTS

My charts were perpetually frozen. The problem I assume came from when I linked a 1 min chart to a 1 sec chart. I guess you cant do that, although I just assumed it would update when available, not have a sync problem. I did that link to the other chart (made the charts all link #1)...after I did this: (but charts did not freeze). I used the "Overlay chart/price Study" from my 1 sec to the 1 minute. (I just figured that when the study triggered on the 1 sec chart, that it would then show up on my 1 minute chart) Since then I couldn't get it to UNfreeze. I had to CTRL-ALT-DEL to "stop the process" because it wouldn't even shut down. My solution to get it working again was while the charts were starting, during the loading of my charts, I quickly (only a couple seconds to do this, thank God it froze on that chart tab I needed) opened up the "Chart Studies" and Unchecked the "Chart Settings > Advanced Settings2 > Chart Linking" and changed it back to zero (0). Then I quickly deleted the added "Overlay Study/Price" studies I added. I had to RE-do this several times because it still froze until I quickly "Saved" my charts. (I guess once the charts finish loading it reverted back to saved charts even though I had just changed them). My questions are these: 1) I assume I cant link a 1 min chart to a 1 sec chart without freezing, correct? 2) I'm thinking I still want to put an "Overlay Study/Price Study" on my 1 min chart of a study on my 1 SECOND chart, will I still have problems? Thank you |

From our perspective, there is no way we can know what the problem is unless we were to test your Chartbook. Did this problem start to occur after you updated Sierra Chart to a newer version? 1. No this is not correct. There is no problem with this. 2. No, there should be no problem with this. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. No, didn't start after an update. But I think I found the culprit. Since my 1 min was 60 days loaded, because 1 minute is no problem with this much data. The 1 sec chart although I only load 1 day obviously bc of the large data to load, After I UN-linked the frozen charts, I noticed my 1 sec charts changed to 60 days. It obviously loaded 60 days of data by itself no problem, but linked with an Overlay was too much. I'm sure if I waited a couple hours it would have eventually Unfroze. So I'll make sure the charts "days loaded" are the same BEFORE linking to avoid this. I don't know if you can put some "preventer" in the code to prevent this. IE: when charts are linked, they sync the lowest days loaded, instead of the most. I don't know. Considered this closed. I can work around that. I will load the "Overlay Chart/Price" Study I mentioned, but I'll make sure its just one day loaded at a time for all charts. Thx |

The solution to this is to not use the Days to Load Chart Linking option. Otherwise, the higher Days to Load can be used.
