Is there a standard indicator that compares the range of the current time based bar to x number of past bars at the same time? I've created a Spreadsheet Study for now using an inefficient way (mine is only setup for 15 minute bars and RTH only) to see the average range of that time period and then a bar with the current range. I attached what my current study looks like. Thank you for your time and efforts. Nick |

This would be a very good study. Would sierra charts consider developing something like this? |

The Relative Volume study now can be based on another study. So you could base it on the Bar Difference study and should be able to accomplish what you want. A quick test shows the Relative Volume study can be based on that study and we will prepare documentation but we have not gone through detailed analysis to validate the results. Hello, Thank you for the documentation. I just tried it on my 15 min ESH18 and I don't think the results are correct. As seen in the attached 1_relative_range_results.png, what I'm seeing is: - the "Average Volume" which is the average range compared to all Thursdays in the last 180 days is showing as constant 2.7 - hence the calculated relative range shown as values on the subgraph should also be incorrect Please see attached settings for Relative Volume study and Bar Difference study. Thank you for your help! |

We see that there is something happening with the Relative Volume study not picking up the correct data in this case. We are looking into it. Please give us a few days to figure out what is happening.

We have found the problem and it will be fixed in Pre-Release 1702. Please update to that version and the Relative Volume Study will show the correct information. thank you! i have downloaded 1705 and tested it out... unfortunately, the relative range is still showing constant "average range" as constant (see attached blue line) |

I am not sure where the blue line is coming from, but it is NOT the Average of the Differences for the past 180 days. Please go into the subgraphs tab for the Average Volume study and set the following: Relative Volume >> Draw Style >> Ignore Cumulative Volume Ratio >> Draw Style >> Ignore 100% >> Draw Style >> Ignore Average Volume >> Draw Style >> Line Average Cumulative Volume >> Draw Style >> Ignore Cumulative Volume >> Draw Style >> Ignore This should give you what you are looking for. If the blue line still shows up, then it is coming from a different study, or is a drawing. You will need to take a look and see why it would still be present. What you are seeing on the graph right now is the Relative Volume of the past 180 days in comparison to the current bar. So the last value in the image of 84.1 means that the average Difference of the bars at that time in comparison to the current bar is 84.1% (i.e. the average over the past 180 days is lower by 15.9%). Making the changes above will show the actual Average Difference value, rather than the comparison. You will then also be able to see the actual difference bars. For reference, the documentation for the Draw Styles for the subgraphs of a study can be found here: Chart Studies: Subgraphs Tab >> Draw Style The documentation for the Relative Volume study can be found here: Relative Volume Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
