i have a daily chart of GEU18-GEU20.FUT_SPREAD.CME for instance. no trades yet today. when i right-click on the chart to "Delete and Download Data" for the past couple days, it manufactures a bar with the same high/low of the last day, but different open/close. when i right-click, "Delete and Download Data" again, the bar disappears again. this can be repeated many times

This is now resolved. Right-click on the chart and re-download the data.

it's still manufacturing a bar. i dont think any trades have occurred yet, since 1800 EST. also, the volume so far for 2/2 is suspiciously exactly the same as yesterday's

We are not seeing a problem with this now. Let us know if you are currently seeing an issue or if you see it again.

it might be useful to know, that if i duplicate the chart with the false bar, the bar is replaced by a single dash at the same close as yesterday initially, but with no volume (not 0, just no volume at all in the little cursor data window). however, once a bid/offer change has been received in the time + sales, the bar converts back to the fake one like in the chart i posted, and shows the same volume as yesterday

We do see the reason why you see what you do. We do not have a solution to this without creating other problems. It has to do with the current daily quote data as provided from the CME does not reset itself until there is a trade in the new trading day. it might be useful to know, that if i duplicate the chart with the false bar, the bar is replaced by a single dash at the same close as yesterday initially, but with no volume (not 0, just no volume at all in the little cursor data window). however, once a bid/offer change has been received in the time + sales, the bar converts back to the fake one like in the chart i posted, and shows the same volume as yesterday
This does not make sense and that is not what we see. When you duplicate the chart, after about a second it will look the same as the original one at the last bar.

you have to wait for a slow time of day, like in the evenings. sometimes it will be a minute or two before a bid/ask quote is received. |

We understand how Sierra Chart works and what you say does not make sense as long as the Chart Update Interval is set to one second or less and Sierra Chart is connected to the data feed. It does not matter whether there is trading occurring or not. So there must be some other explanation for what you are seeing and it is certainly not standard.
