I am trying to understand the whole point and figure setup in SC. There is the point and figure study which uses the chart settings>> tick size for defining how big each box is- in the point and figure study. If in forex tick size is .0001 and box size is 5 that means a 5 pip box. But then there is the point and figure intraday chart period in chart settings. When you set graph to this without the P&F study it does not create a P & F chart but alters the chart noticably. In the intraday chart period box it also has a default number 10-1 presumably this is the box and reversal size. For a forex chart eurusd I have set tick size to .0001. Point and Figure study to 5 tick size by 3 reversal size. Then I have set my chart settings>> intraday chart period to Point and Figure with 5-3 in the little white bar. Is this the right way to setup a Point and Figure chart? I wasn't confused until I read there is a intraday chart period to match to the p&f study. |

I have read that documentation. I am just wondering why I have to enter the box size and reversal size in the Bar Period Type box as well as the study. What if I enter different sizes for the study and Bar Period Type?

When you are using the Bar Period Type >> Point and Figure Bar, you must not use the study at all. This is not going to make sense.

I have removed all studies and am only using the bar period type point and figure with graph draw type point and figure and I have a 5-3 in the chart settings but I am getting single box reversals. My tick size in chart settings is .0001 for the eurusd.

Uncheck Chart >> Chart Settings >>New Bar at Session Start.
