http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Backtesting.php#BackTestingMultipleCharts Hello, can you help me clarify? I have a 5 minute chart with S/P Overlay references from 3-4 other charts in the same chartbook. When I run a backtest on this chart to test the results of a spreadsheet system for trading that I created (the system makes references to the S/P Overlays), should I pause the backtest (it seems to start automatically and the app turns busy) and then check the "all charts in chartbook" box and then start it again? |

Before starting the back test you will want to make sure that All Charts in Chartbook is enabled. You definitely do not want to pause the back test and then enable this. It needs to be enabled from the very start. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. OK, but this is where I run into the problem. The only way I can see to do this is to bring up the reply control panel from the chart menu first, as shown in attachment 1234. So I do that and check the box. Then I choose the replay backtest option from the Trade menu (image 12345 attached). Then I see the clear replay/backtest data prompt (image 123456 attached) and say Yes. Then the backtest begins, the app gets busy, but the "for all charts in chartbook" check box automatically unchecks itself. (image 1234567 attached). So that is where I am stuck. Thank you. |

OK we see where the problem is. If you want to replay multiple charts you cannot use the back testing commands on the Trade menu. You need to follow through the instructions here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Backtesting.php#ReplayBackTestingManual Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
