Hi support, I've been noticing that some of my u.s. stock alerts are not triggering when I do my end of day update / scan. I've determined that the reason is because I am putting my alert drawings on a 4 hour chart, and the alert will not trigger if the first H4 candle of the day meets the alert condition but the second H4 candle of the day does not. So it would seem that the calculation is only done on the last candle. This is kind of useless for end-of-day scans. Daily charts don't offer enough precision to place the alert where I want. Am I missing something? Screenshot attached. This is an example where the purple line has an alert, but it never triggers even though price clearly goes above the line. Thank you! |

As is documented here Chart Drawing Alerts are only evaluated on the last bar: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/Tools.html#ChartDrawingAlerts This is not going to change so do not request it. Thanks for the reply, however I feel like the significance of this issue is not being appreciated. It sounds like the alert feature is only intended to work on symbols where you always have the chart up and are trading live. For people who use a chart watchlist scan to trigger alerts, it is not reliable unless you are at your desk every single bar to initiate a scan. If it won't be fixed / changed, what are some other options to ensure I don't miss alerts? Is there a way to programatically tell sierrachart to disconnect / reconnect to my data feed and initiate a watchlist scan every 4 hours? |
