Hi, Thanks in advance. I use a chart that has both RTH and globx session times. What Volume Graph Period Type do I use to automatically get a new profile at each start? (RTH/GLBX) I probably tried ten options to no avail. :o( |

This is the one I want but I do not know how to get it to create a new one at the Start Time then a new one at Next Session. Meaning one for RTH and a new one for Evening session. (Please see attached) |

You need to add two instances of the Volume by Price study. Set this Input: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/VolumeByPrice.php#InputVolumeGraphPeriodType To One Period from Start Time to End Time and specify the start and end times with the Study Inputs. Okay, I have flipped flopped every variation I could think of. Including a fair amount of time on what you instructed me to do above. As you can see by the snapshots, (Please look :oP) it puts them both up. Any way to have it flip when the time changes and only show the one I want? I am at your kind mercy. |

We are not completely clear what you are looking for, but one thing is that you did not set the Volume Graph Period Type to: One Period from Start Time to End Time Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Sorry do not mean to be a pain. I tried that. It shows last nights Glbx session. Not the one that started today. Like a 24hr chart that is set to Multiple Profiles Based On Fixed Time it starts a new profile for the RTH session (8:30 cst) and new one for the Glbx session. (15:15 cst) I simply want the same thing all the way to the right. (Just one though) RTH starts at 8:30 cst a chart reflecting that to the right. Glbx starts at 15:15 cst a NEW one that starts to the right. Next morning RTH starts at 8:30 cst a NEW one. 15:15 comes a NEW one for the Glbx and so on... (Only on the right) :oP |

We have determined what the problem is. This will be resolved in the next release.

Same as previously. Set this Input: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/VolumeByPrice.php#InputVolumeGraphPeriodType To One Period from Start Time to End Time and specify the start and end times with the Study Inputs. The study now properly handles reversed start and end times. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Hi, It is 4:30 am cst as I type. Sorry but the 8:30:00 to 15:14:59 is still drawing a profile. Actually it just prints the current candle, as you can see in the snapshot. (Obviously it should not based on the time set. It should draw nothing. As you know :o) PS I allowed the side by side so you could see what is happening. |

Sorry but the 8:30:00 to 15:14:59 is still drawing a profile. Yes this will be the case. And that is how the Volume by Price study is designed. It will always try to find a nearest match to whatever bars are currently in the chart. There is no way to prevent this.It is not something we are willing to change as this goes to the basic core design of the study. There may be a different way though we can solve this by adding a new input to control the number of days to calculate when using multiple volume profiles. In this case you could set it to 1.

Yes please then add it. I do see what you are saying. I am very surprised that no one else has said anything. I have the profile on the far right because I want to observe price action cleanly. Meaning, I know I can just set it to draw on the right as opposed to the far right, but it is under the price then. As I said, that is not best for me. Once again that you for taking the time to try and help me. PS The funny thing is that on the snapshot above if you will notice, it is not drawing from the last session on the one that is set for 8:30:00 to 15:14:59. It is just drawing the last bar. Head scratcher there. |
