Hi,

I wanted to know if it is possible to install sierra chart on a normal windows computer and then copy that whole program folder onto a USB, and then use a USB to use the program on any other computer.

Reason behind this is because I wanted to consider trading when I have some time at school, and would like to use the school computers but they don't allow downloading of any programs, so I was wondering if I can have the program files that I use at my home comp , and just copy paste it onto my usb.

Thanks,

John

Yes you can do this. However, the computer needs to have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributable package installed.

This file is provided with Sierra Chart in its installation folder. It is named vcredist_x86_2010.exe

Longer-term dependency on this will be removed but it is now required.

Hello,

Okay alright thank you for that, I will copy paste the program file that I have on my home PC, and transfer it on to my USB.

and all the logs and personal info will automatically be stored in its respective places in the folders on the USB? Or would I have to set the destination file once I open the program on my school computer via my usb.

Thanks,

John

Once you copy Sierra Chart to the USB, you would need to update the folder paths in Global Settings >> General Settings. There are three of them.

You can set the Data Files Folder to be automatically located within the main installation folder.

This is all you have to do.
