From http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s252 Color Bar Based on Alert Condition ... Drawing Arrows or Other Styles at the High or Low of Bars It is possible to draw arrows or other Draw Styles at the High or Low of a bar instead of coloring the bar itself. Follow the instructions below to do this. Set the Output When Condition Is True Input to Use Input Data. Set the Input Data Input to High or Low. Set the Draw Style for the Color Bar Subgraph with this study to the style that you want. Optionally set the Draw Style Percentage Offset Input to the +/- percentage offset that you want, to offset the arrow or whatever Draw Style you have used, from the Input Data you have set. I have searched the Settings tab windows and do not see this option. What am I missing? |

My screen does not look like that. If I go to color BAR it looks like that. I am on color BACKGROUND, and that section is not there. Your documentation says they are the same at http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s252 Color Background Based on Alert Condition [Using Studies] - [Link] - [Top] Refer to the Color Bar Based on Alert Condition section below. According to your documentation, there is no noted difference, yet in the software, they are different. |

I understand that now. But, how would I know that? Where in the documentation does it tell me that it only works on bar color and not background color? It is an available option, so it must be available. Your documentation is quite complete, but there are tidbits of info hidden throughout various sections. There are nuances like perhaps this one that only an experienced SierraChart user/programmer would know. Urban knowledge that is not printed anywhere. Other information is there, but only if you know exactly what to search for and the exact phrase it is listed under. Not at all user friendly for someone trying to learn. Plus, this illustrates that referring to the section in the "manual" is not very helpful in all cases. I could look at this section in the documentation for days and would NEVER intuit the correct answer - "You can't get there from here!" Not everybody wakes up in the morning thinking, "I am going to harass the folks at Sierra today!" Many of us are trying to get answers that we can not find or do not understand the nuances on a topic they do not comprehend. I got a nosebleed - I am climbing off my soapbox now. Thanks for your help and for letting me vent |
