First let me start by saying I am not a programmer and I am in the need of some help. I am looking to have a programmer write a script for me but I need to make myself clear on what I want them to do. If after anyone of you are a programmer and interested in the project, please contact me. I currently and receiving some real time news metrics via email and I would like to have each new email parsed for data, i.e. ticker symbol and score. I understand that email can be forwarded to a PHP program/script in CPANEL. This program/script would then write both values to the DB. I would then use the the spreadsheet in Sierra to compare/filter against a table of symbols(say a table of stock with weekly options),volume, etc, and provide an alert on the Quoteboard whenever the a smybol met the criteria/parameters. My question is what is the function required to access the DB in the Sierra spreadsheet? MSN had the following note: "The SQL.REQUEST function is not supported in Microsoft Office Excel 2003 because the Excel 2002 Add-in: Open Database Connectivity (XLODBC.XLA) is only supported in Excel 2002." can I use SQL.request or does it need to be XLODBC. |
