Hi, I was wondering how to stop Market Replay from skipping time when no trades are going through? I replay 1 minute chart, watch a countdown timer, and sometimes need to enter right at the end of a bar which is impossible the way this is currently working. Even if there are no trades going through the skipped seconds I need a flow of where I am in the time of the bar. It's obviously not trading during the missing seconds (confirmed by volume) but that shouldn't stop the clock and timer. Thank you, Mike Date Time Of Last Edit: 2016-03-23 00:57:59

Not sure we totally understand this. Is the underlying data in 1 Minute units? You can tell by looking at the records for the period of time in question in Edit >>Edit/Download Data-Intraday Chart. Disregard the prior response. We looked at the video and there is no solution to this: I was wondering how to stop Market Replay from skipping time when no trades are going through?
If there is no trading occurring, then there is no trading occurring and the countdown timer will not count down during the replay. There simply is no solution to this unless you can come up with something on your side but we certainly have nothing to offer. In the case of real-time chart updating or slow speed replays, you can set this to have the study function called at regular intervals which can be every second: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ACSIL_Members_Variables_And_Arrays.html#scUpdateAlways Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I need this for Sim trading on a 1 minute chart. Time of the bars is critical within a couple seconds. Ninjas time counter is streaming so there has to be a way. Thanks Date Time Of Last Edit: 2016-03-23 00:57:30

Thank you! A solution for this would be great. When you start getting 20-40 second pauses in time you think the platform has frozen or replay has stopped working. I really hope you guys can come up with something for this soon as i'm having a hell of a time with it at the moment. Thanks. |

SC team - One of the potential options I can think of is to include a Timer on the replay control window itself to indicate the last tick time processed + milliseconds passed so that there is always an update on the timer on the replay control window, it doesn't matter if there any corresponding ticks for the instrument being played or not. For this probably you don't have make much changes to the existing replay functionality. thanks Date Time Of Last Edit: 2016-03-27 18:35:46

I am also looking into a way to get accurate (seconds of accuracy) timing during a replay. sc.CurrentSystemDateTime is obviously not working in fast replay/backtesting mode and sc.BaseDateTimeIn[sc.Index] is just for the start-time of an sc.Index.

Use: sc.CurrentDateTimeForReplay. It will be documented later today. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users.
