I am trying to download a certain number of days of tick data for ES futures but it seems that whatever I set Max Historical Intraday Days to Download to it doesn't make any difference. I hit Delete All Data And Download and it is always the same amount of data going back to the contract start.

I went through all the steps in that link but it still didn't work. I have the Sierra Chart Real-Time and Historical Exchange Data Feed and am using through Service = Interactive Brokers to get the real-time ES data. I have Allow Support for Sierra Chart Data Feeds enabled. I updated the symbol settings, though it wasn't clear which service I should have selected so I tried both Interactive Brokers and SC Data - All Services, but neither worked ...

You do want to be using the Interactive Brokers service. This is necessary to receive the real-time CME data at the reduced exchange fee. It is not really clear what you want to accomplish. After reading the original post, we can infer that you may want to get a longer-term chart and cannot? If you want a long-term futures chart, refer to the instructions here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ContinuousFuturesContractCharts.html If we have still misunderstood this, let us know specifically what you require. I am doing some analysis on tick data. I want to get an intraday chart with a limited amount of tick data, say only 10 days. But whatever I do with the setting it keeps giving me all the tick data for the contract which is too large (1.7GB). Of course I can compress but that is slow and freezes up my trading platform.

Is it OK if the chart only goes back 10 days? To compress the data, use this feature here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_DataSourceSettings.php#DataFileManagement That runs on a background thread and should not cause Sierra Chart to freeze but maybe this is a problem if there are charts open which reference the file. Just make sure there are no charts open. This is also going to be improved upon in an upcoming release. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. It's my main trading chart so I need to see ~90 days, but only 10 days of tick data. I can work around it but just tough to do analysis and trading at the same time. The improvement sounds like a good idea.

There is no way to have Sierra Chart download a combination of tick by tick data and non-tick by tick data.
